CHIRIHUANO.- Warrior dance of Tiahuanaco
origin, performed by male playing a huge “zampoña” accompanied with
drums, dressed with lamb wool hats adorned with flamenco feathers,
coloured ponchos and a white blanket on ther backs, tied up with
handkerchief of the forearms. It is seen in the provinces of Chucuito
and Yunguyo in September and December.
CHUNCHOS OF YAHUARMAYO.- Dance of the tribes
of the jungle area of the provinces of Sandia and Carabaya, where
young men armed with arrows, demonstrate their skills and virility
during fratricide wars. They receive their name because during these
rites many blood is shed.
