Ritual, religious, magical and propitiatory dances,
performed with "“ampoñas"” by young aymara and quechua
men.
DIABLADA.- Originated during the colony
in the mines. These dances represent the spirits of the mines that
leave them to honour the Virgin of Candelario, Patron Saint of the
caverns. Beautiful dances, symbol of the fith against the 7 capital
sins and evil, mixed with the soul and roots of the Peruvian mestizos.
The masks that are used in the dance frighten and are beautiful
at the same time. The music is performed by a band.
SIQURIS OF TAQUILE.- Originated on Taquile
Island. Performed by young men whilst the plants are in flower,
as a sign of happiness and thanksgiving to Pacha Mama (Mother Earth).
The dresses are predominantly red with painted feathers with beautiful
natural colour that offer elegance to the dancers.
