Ritual dances performed during the process of
agricultural labour, by the quechua and aymara communities of the
region of Puno.
SATIRIS O TARPU.- Of Inca origin, to honour
“Pacha Mama”, comprising several phases such as the distribution
of the land, stone and weed pick, fallow , seeding, hilling around
plants and harvest. Men and women, held by arms and legs crawl over
the harvest thanking for the product of the land. With the music
of “pinquillos”, “quenachos” and “zampoñas” they dance carrying
cultivation tools. It is danced specially in Ilvia, Conima, Pukara
and Juli.
MARIS O CAHURIS.- It is the symbiosis of
the man of the high flatland and the Spanish, performed by the aymara
sector of Ilave and Acora, to pay tribute to fertility of the earth
and plants in flower, expecting the good harvest of excellent quality
potatoes. Men and women dress with hats full of flowers, to the
music af “pinquillos, and drums, during May and September.
